Terms of Use

Last updated October 9, 2026

These are the rules for using Spooly: the iPhone app, the Android app, and the web page people use to add their voices. Using Spooly means you agree to them. Spooly is made by Terminus Films.

What Spooly is for

Talking over pictures together: you share a memory with the people who were there, and everyone adds their voice. Only the people in a memory can see it, hear it and add to it. Its link lets people in for three days, so share it with care. The Privacy Policy says what happens to what you share.

What you add is yours

You keep every right to the pictures, clips and recordings you add. You give Terminus Films permission to store them, copy them (including in our nightly backup), process them (turning voices into words, weaving them together, as the Privacy Policy describes), and show them to the people in the memory, only to run Spooly. That permission ends when what you added is removed, except for the backup copy (up to 30 days) and anything we have to keep for the authorities.

Only add what's yours to share, and be thoughtful about other people in your pictures.

What's never allowed

Spooly has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive people. Don't add, or use a memory to share:

Anything sexual involving someone under 18 (we report it to the authorities; see Child safety). Nudity or sexual content. Violence or gore. Harassment, bullying, threats or hate. Anything illegal, or that you don't have the right to share. Someone's private information without their permission. Spam, scams or anything harmful.

Reporting and blocking

Anyone can report a picture, a voice or a whole memory: in the app, ⋯ › Privacy and safety › Report…; on a memory's page, Report in the small print. Reports come to us, never to the people in the memory, and we look at them promptly. The person who made a memory can remove anything on it, remove anyone from it, block whoever added something from adding again, close it to new voices, or reset its link.

What we can do

If something breaks these rules, we can remove it or the whole memory, stop someone from adding to Spooly, and report it to the authorities, with or without notice.

Who can use Spooly

You need to be at least 13 to use Spooly.

Spooly as it is

Spooly is free, and it's provided as it is. We work hard not to lose anything, but we can't promise it will always be available or that nothing will ever be lost, so keep your own copies of what matters (in the app, Download everything or Save video…). As far as the law allows, Terminus Films isn't responsible for losses from using Spooly, or for what other people add to a memory.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. If a change matters, the app or this site will say so. If Spooly ever closes, we'll tell you first and give you time to download your memories.
