Do I need the app to add my voice?

No. Open the link in your phone's browser, listen, then press the red button and talk. There's nothing to install and no account.

Who can see a memory I make?

Only the people in it: whoever opens your link in its first three days, and anyone you let in after that. Everyone in it can see who's there. In the app, ⋯ › Privacy and safety › Who's in… shows everyone and lets you remove someone. Turn on Ask me before anyone joins there to say yes to each new person yourself, even in the first three days.

It says this memory is just for the people in it.

Its link lets people in for three days. After that, type your name and tap Ask to join, and whoever made it can let you in. If you were in it before, open it on the same phone or browser you used then.

Someone missed the three days.

In the app, under ⋯ › Privacy and safety › Who's in…, let new people join for three more days. Or let them in when they ask.

The link opened inside Facebook, Instagram or another app.

Browsers built into other apps often can't use the microphone. Tap the ⋯ menu and open the page in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android), or copy the link and paste it there.

The page says it needs the microphone.

Allow the microphone when your browser asks. If you said no earlier, allow it for spooly.io in your browser's site settings, then reload the page.

When will I hear everyone together?

Once a second person adds their voice, Spooly weaves everyone together, usually within a few minutes. It takes a little longer when there are video clips, because Spooly watches them first.

It weaves again as more voices come in, so open the link again to hear the newest.

Some of what I said isn't in Everyone together.

Everyone together is an edit, so not every line makes it in. Each recording can still be heard whole: tap that person's name on the memory.

Removing your voice, your pictures, or a memory

You can remove your own voice or pictures from the phone or browser you added them from, with Remove my voice or Remove my pictures. The person who made a memory can remove any voice or picture, or delete the whole memory.

Something in a memory shouldn't be there.

Report it: in the Spooly app, choose ⋯ › Privacy and safety › Report… on the memory; on a memory's page, Report is in the small print under it. Reports come to Spooly, never to the people in the memory, and Spooly acts on them.

If you made the memory, you can also remove anyone's voice or pictures yourself (Remove and block also keeps whoever added them from adding to it again), close it to new voices with ⋯ › Privacy and safety › Close to new voices, or delete the whole memory.

If its link got around, remove anyone who shouldn't be there under ⋯ › Privacy and safety › Who's in… in the app, or choose Reset link… there. The old link stops working. People in it on the Spooly app keep it; send the new link to anyone else.

Can I redo one part of my recording?

Before you send it, yes. While you hear it back, go to the picture and tap Redo this picture: say it again for that picture, and the rest stays as it was. To record the whole thing again, the app's Start over keeps your pictures picked; on a memory's page, it's Record again.

My video stopped partway.

Spooly keeps the first 30 seconds of each video, and says so while a longer one comes in. If you're still talking when it ends, its last frame stays on screen while you go on, and the screen says the video's over.

A memory is in the wrong year, or under No date.

In the app, Memories is a timeline of when the pictures were taken. Scans of old prints are dated the day they were scanned, and some pictures never say. Whoever made the memory can fix it: ⋯ › Change the date on the memory, or Add a date under it in Memories. The year is enough; add the month if you know it.

Saving a video

Once a memory has Everyone together, open it in the Spooly app and choose ⋯ › Save video… Save one picture with everyone who talked over it, a few pictures, or the whole thing. It ends on the names of everyone in it.
